FMR is a performance group working with analog film, DIY-modified 16mm projectors, modular synthesizers, and field recordings. Inspired by Vienna’s tradition of Expanded Cinema, FMR creates sensory experiences for its audience.
Central to their practice is the craft-based, tactile work with their instruments and the reclaiming of technology as a form of self-empowerment. Through responsive interaction and collective improvisation, they create an encounter space within a non-hierarchical structure. The battery-powered, portable instruments – continuously developed as part of the project – enable performances in public spaces without electrical access.
