Die Faszination der Filmemacherin für das kanadische Herbstlicht und dem starken Bedürfnis, dieses mitnehmen zu wollen, ließ diese Arbeit enstehen. Look how beautiful the light moves ist sowohl eine visuelle Untersuchung der zwei fundamentalen Elemente des Kinos, Licht und Bewegung, als auch ein sehnsüchtiger Versuch in der Zeit zu verweilen. Die Bilder wurden in einem Haus in Montreal eingefangen und innerhalb der Kamera montiert. Der 15 Meter lange Filmstreifen der Super8-Kassette wurde händisch entwickelt und bleibt ungeschnitten. Der Titel verweist nicht nur auf die aufgezeichnete Lichtbewegung, sondern auch auf die Bewegung des Lichtes auf der Leinwand durch die Projektorenlampe, sowie der Reise des originalen, unkopierten Lichtmediums von einem Haus in Montreal in die Projektionskammer dieses Kinosaals.

Fascinated by the wonderful Canadian autumn light the filmmaker was inspired to create this visual exploration of the two fundamental elements of film: light and movement. Look how beautiful the light moves is an attempt to remain in time rather than space. Shot in a house in Montreal, the images capture different light situations in real time and time lapse using in-camera editing. The filmstrip of the Super8 cassette was handprocessed and remains unedited. The title refers not just to the captured light movements, but to the moving light on the screen through the projector’s bulb and to the journey the original, unprinted light media made – from the house in Montreal into the projection booth of this screening room.
